What is the anointing?
Many people who grew up in church may be unfamiliar with what the anointing of God even is. The anointing is the manifest, tangible presence of God. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you receive the Holy Spirit. He comes to live inside of you. The presence of God abides in you as a believer. BUT the anointing of God is the manifest presence of God that can be tangibly felt on your body.
The anointing destroys every yoke of bondage which means it can heal your mind and your body. I was reading Matthew 20:29-34 one morning and realized that certain people in the Bible drew on the anointing of God, and in turn, got healed. They got the attention of Jesus and He stopped to heal them.
Matthew 20: 29-34: “As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.”
These blind men drew on the anointing.
They saw Jesus and knew He had the power to heal them. They cried out and when Jesus didn’t answer, they cried out even louder. Jesus had no choice but to turn around and ask them what they wanted. I am often reminded of the scripture: “the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.” (Matthew 11:12). That means to go after the things you desire in God and do not give up! Those blind men didn’t take no for an answer even though everyone around them told them to shut up. Isn’t it amazing that Jesus stopped for people like that? He was on his way to go to do something else. He stopped for people who knew how to draw on the anointing.
The same persistence is seen in Luke 8:43-48:
“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
That woman pressed her way through the crowd to touch Jesus. She knew how to draw on the anointing. Mark 5:28 says that she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”
Don’t give up. Jesus wants to heal you, transform your life, and take you to new levels. Draw on the anointing by persisting in prayer. Don’t take no for an answer.
Luke 18:1-8: Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth
