Having a healthy mindset is crucial to living a successful, abundant life. Being positive and having an optimistic mindset is great. But there is something greater than just optimism that is needed if you want to have the full life God has in store for you; it’s faith in the Word of God. Hebrews 11:6 (English Standard Version) says “without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Faith in God’s Word has the potential to completely transform your life and change any area of your life that you need it to. Do you need boldness? Read and meditate on scriptures that relate to that.
Do you need help with your finances or your work ethic? Search and study finances in God’s Word (proverbs is a great place for this). Do you desire to develop healthier relationships? Search the scriptures on the fruit of the Spirit and develop your character. The list can go on. The Bible tells us that He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. If you have given your life to Jesus and made Him Lord and Savior over your life, then you already have everything you need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). You lack nothing (Psalm 23). You might feel otherwise, and if that is the case then get in God’s Word and allow Holy Spirit to change your mindset and open your eyes to what you have in God.
If there is something you feel you are lacking, seek God’s Word in that specific area of your life and watch Him come through for you. Meditate on scriptures daily. There is no impossibility in God. Faith is more than just optimism. Faith in God’s Word has the power to implement REAL change. If you made Jesus Lord over your life, you already have a seed of faith in you.
Many times as believers we can feel like we need “more faith” but the reality is we already have faith. We can grow and increase our faith by hearing God’s Word like Romans tells us of course, but don’t get caught up in the lie of “I don’t have faith for that yet.” There is already a seed of faith on the inside of you that was deposited there the moment you gave your life to Jesus. You have it! You can grow your faith in any specific area you desire to see change in through the Word of God.
Romans 10:17 KJV So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
There is always action to faith.
James 2:18 says: Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
If you have faith in something, it should be evident by the things you are doing and saying daily. There should be action for whatever it is you believe God for. It can be practical.
That action may be starting a business because you believe that God is going to give you a second stream of income. That action may be serving in church in an area you’ve felt the Lord leading you to. That action may even be moving or changing jobs if that is what God has spoken to you to do!
Sometimes when I see people going to the altar at church to receive prayer, I think to myself “These people are stepping out in faith right now.” How can I tell? I literally see them going to the altar as a point of contact to tell the Lord, “I’m here to receive whatever it is that you have for me.” There was real action that took place and that action was, as simple as it may be, walking to the altar for prayer.
There should be REAL action you take after you set out to accomplish whatever it is you desire or are believing God for in your life. Even if it’s simple or small, start today on the task the Lord is telling you to do or accomplish.
If you want to have that kind of life-transforming faith that can make the impossible possible in your life, then you must accept Jesus as Lord over your life. If you haven’t done that but want to, say this prayer out loud:
Dear Lord Jesus come into my heart. Forgive me for all my sins. I believe that God raised you from the dead and that You’re coming back again for me! Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Empower me to live a life for You. You are Lord and Savior over my life. I am saved. I am born again. I’m on my way to heaven!
Romans 10:9 (New King James Version) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
You are capable of great things!
